Our Cardiac Team (involving Cardiologists & Cardiothoracic Surgeons)
Some of the region's leading specialists in cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery are part of our cardiac team. These board-certified physicians provide expertise in a number of areas - from sophisticated cardiac testing and screening to highly specialized surgical procedures, including some of the newest techniques.
In addition to our highly qualified physicians, Denton Regional boasts one of the most caring support staff teams to be found anywhere. From the anesthesiologists, to the nurses and surgical assistants, our support staff members play crucial roles in the process of your overall care.
Cardiovascular Surgery
For patients who require surgical intervention, Denton Regional offers peace of mind. Members of our open heart surgical team are highly skilled cardiothoracic surgeons who perform bypass surgery, heart valve replacement and other intricate cardiac procedures. And they work closely with your personal physician to advise him or her of your progress.
Surgical procedures are performed in our specially designed surgical suites, and each patient is visited by a member of the surgical team both prior to and following surgery. Following cardiac surgery, patients are closely monitored in our critical care unit. Most patients are taken off the ventilator within 6 hours - and within 8 hours of surgery, are transferred from the critical care unit to either our progressive care unit or the cardiac recovery floor.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
Our cardiac rehabilitation program focuses maximizing each patient's physical, mental, social and vocational potential, following a cardiac event or surgery. Enrollment in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is by physician referral. Many insurance companies and Medicare will cover at least portions of the costs for these services.
PHASE I
Some patients, such as open heart, angioplasty or heart attack patients, may require counseling and prescribed exercise activities while still in the hospital. Our team of rehabilitation specialists are available to coordinate these services, according to your physician's prescribed orders.
PHASE II & III
Other patients may benefit from rehabilitation services after they are discharged from the hospital. Our cardiac rehabilitation facility features modern exercise and monitoring equipment that patients can access on an outpatient basis.
Community Outreach
Our cardiac nurses and support staff personnel are available to speak to community organizations about heart disease prevention, risk and treatment-as well as any of the services offered at Denton Regional. For more information or to schedule a speaker for your organization, please call (940) 384-3251.
